DULUTH, MN, September 12, 2024 — The NorthShore Inline Marathon, set to take place on September 14, 2024, has officially closed its online registration, seeing its largest number of participants since 2009. This year’s race will host participants from 47 states and 11 countries, reaffirming its position as a premier international event. Known as the National Championship of Inline Marathons, the NorthShore Inline Marathon is the second-largest inline marathon in the world and the largest in North America.
In-Person Registration Still Available on Friday
While online registration has ended, there’s still an opportunity for participants to join. In-person registration will open on Friday, September 13th, at the Skate and Health Expo from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Historically, an additional 100-200 participants register in person, adding even more excitement to an already electric race weekend.
Record-Breaking Participation Across All Events
This year’s event boasts a remarkable increase in participation, with over 20% more registrants compared to last year. The 2024 race will see the highest attendance in 15 years. According to Operations Director Joe Haggenmiller, "We’re thrilled to see the surge in participation this year, especially with so many people coming from all over the country and the world. It’s a sign of the growing passion for inline skating and the enduring appeal of this race.”
Beyond the marathon itself, record participation has been confirmed for all of the event’s races, including the 10K and Half Marathon runs, the Full Marathon Rollerski, the Half Marathon Skate, and the 10K Skate, marking an all-time high across the board.

With such a large turnout, the NorthShore Inline Marathon is also seeking volunteers to help ensure the event’s success.
