“I am very pleased and excited to ANNOUNCE that the NorthShore Inline Marathon will be adding A ROLLERSKIING DIVISION for the 2011 race to be held on September 17 after the last wave of inline skaters. As the new Executive Director I am looking for ways to expand our event and rollerskiing is a perfect fit. This marathon distance race for rollerskiing is the first of its kind in the United States in 25 years. I feel the NEW ROLLERSKI DIVISION will positively accent the largest Inline Marathon in the nation and provide an opportunity for additional sport enthusiasts to enjoy the spectacular course that follows the shore of Lake Superior from Two Harbors to Duluth.”

“As in any sport, events play an important role for motivating participants to practice towards the challenge. NorthShore Rollerski Marathon can become a huge asset in the Nordic community and will provide an opportunity for many participants to experience cross country skiing as a year round sport and recreational activity.”

“I think the addition of a rollerski class to the North Shore Inline Marathon makes perfect sense. Duluth is situated in one of the most dense populations of ski racers in the United States, and to date, no event has emerged as the “big” rollerski race. It’s timing in a skier’s training year is perfect for a test of fitness and fall competition prep whether getting ready for a full season of racing or just getting Birkie Fever going. I think it’s a great step forward for NSIM and I believe the ski community will support it and it will grow.”

“I was very excited with the idea to organize a rollerski-race tacked on to the Northshore Inline Marathon. Duluth is one of the most premier cities to live for some world class skiers, such as Adam Swank, Nikolai Anakin, or Andre Watt are known on the national circuit that call Duluth their home. As well as the Duluth XC chapter (DXC) is well known in the ski community and continues its activities throughout the summer. By adding a rollerskiing marathon event this will give many skiers the opportunity to train during the summer months for a goal. This event will have great potential and I look forward to participating.”
