NorthShore Inline Marathon, Inc. (NSIM), is announcing that the Nation’s Largest Skating Race, the NorthShore Inline Marathon and Skate Fest scheduled for September 18-20, 2020 in Duluth, Minnesota will be canceled, and all events moved to a virtual format.
NSIM Board of Directors and Staff have determined with complete certainty that an in-person event would be impossible due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic. We have used information from all of our strategic partners: City of Duluth, City of Two Harbors, Saint Louis County, Lake County, MN Department of Transportation, Duluth Police Department, Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, our medical partner St. Luke’s, and Voyageur Bus Company to make this determination. Also, with guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health and State Governor Tim Walz, we know that canceling the in-person NorthShore Inline Marathon and Skate Fest is in the best interest of the safety of Duluth and Two Harbors residents, hundreds volunteers and staff, and of course the thousands of athletes that participate every year.
We have closed registration for the in-person event, and pre-registered athletes have these options for their 2020 registration:
2020 Virtual NorthShore registration will remain open. Registration for the 2021 NorthShore Inline Marathon and Skate Fest will open on September 18, 2020. The 25th Annual NorthShore Inline Marathon will be postponed, and celebrated on Saturday, September 18, 2021.
