NorthShore Inline Marathon, Inc. is launching a new virtual race option called Virtual NorthShore to be held in conjunction with the in-person NorthShore Inline Marathon and Skate Fest scheduled for September 19, 2020 in Duluth, Minnesota.
We will offer this virtual option to participate in NorthShore skating, running and rollerski events this year, next year, and indefinitely. All information on Virtual NorthShore 2020 can be found here: northshoreinline.com/virtual-northshore.
Virtual NorthShore participants register online for either Skate, Run, or Rollerski and have distance options of 10k (6.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles), marathon (26.2 miles), and combined 39.3 (39.3 miles). It is up to them to pick the course, travel the whole distance, and track their time. Then, participants will submit their final results online, and receive their race materials in the mail. Athlete gear includes race shirt, finisher medal, and bib number.
“With the global pandemic affecting almost every business, we’ve realized that putting on a race is most certainly a business venture, despite being a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in a fun industry, and all businesses have had to quickly pivot to meet the expectations of today’s world,” said NSIM Race Director Mike Ward. “Virtual NorthShore is a great addition to our suite of events every September, and the perfect way to get even more people involved with inline skating and getting outside and being active, which directly aligns with our organization’s mission.”
