NorthShore Inline Marathon Matches Athlete Donations to Northern Lights Foundation

Nearly $3,200 donated to “help more children reach the finish line”

Duluth, MN – The NorthShore Inline Marathon, Inc. (NSIM) has matched a donation of approximately $1,600 from participants of the 2018 inline skating, running and rollerski races.

As the charity partner of the NorthShore Inline Marathon, the Northern Lights Foundation (NLF) receives optional donations from race entrants during the online registration process. With 2018 race participation growth, NSIM decided to match every dollar that was donated via online race registration add-ons.

“We were ecstatic to find out that our participants collectively chipped in nearly $1,600 to help local Duluth families, and we are proud and honored to double that amount,” said NSIM Race Director Mike Ward.

The Northern Lights Foundation is a non-profit organization located in Duluth and Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN whose mission is to provide financial support for families with children facing life-threatening illnesses. NLF produces events year-round, such as the Children’s Charity Gala– Northern Lights Foundation’s Fundraising Gala every May.

“We rely on donations raised from events, individuals and businesses in order fulfill our mission of helping children and their families diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Without support from donations and partnerships like we have with the incredible team at the NorthShore Inline Marathon, we simply couldn’t do what we do,” said Ken Larson, Founder & President of the Northern Lights Foundation. “We are so thankful for the continued support of the registrants each year and seeing the generous act of the NSIM match this year is overwhelming.”
