Cancer Can Kiss My Skates Skating Team

Last year, a first time inline marathon participant Debbie Wappula crossed the finish line at the NorthShore Inline Marathon. The finish was especially important for Debbie as she is a stage 3 breast cancer survivor, and inline skating has been an effective way to cope with the physical and emotional toll that fighting cancer has taken on her body and mind.

This year, Debbie and her skating buddy Katie Regan Stavos are forming a skating team to spread awareness and raise money for two cancer organizations, METAvivor and Trails to Treatments. The team name is Cancer Can Kiss My Skates. Click here to visit the fundraising page!

The skating group is actively seeking for team membership and involvement. So what does that mean for you?

You can join their skating team and log your mileage to help reach the goal of 41,245 miles in the year 2018. Also, you can donate to the team, and you can purchase their gear (Kiss My Skates tshirts and hoodies) to help reach the goal of $41,245 raised. Why 41,245? This is the number of people who will die of metastatic breast cancer this year alone. All funds will be split evenly between METAvivor and Trails to Treatments.

It easy to get involved! First, visit You can choose to log miles alongside with Debbie and Katie, support the Kiss My Skates group by purchasing a shirt or hoodie, or make a donation.
