The NorthShore Inline Marathon is proud to announce the 9th Annual Half Marathon for 2012. This race will take place on the same legendary course as the full marathon 13.1 miles from the finish line and will start at 6:45 a.m. Registrations are available on this web site. All age groups in both genders. The field is limited to the first 500 skaters to register. To participate in the half marathon, you must be 11 years old on or before race day, unless approved by the Executive Director. The Half Marathon is presented exclusively by WDIO/WIRT Television.

COMBINED – HALF & FULL MARATHON
NEW FOR 2012! Skaters can skate the half marathon and the full marathon and be eligible for COMBINED awards.
Rules and Information:
- Anyone is eligible, skaters only (includes quads).
- There will be a new “Wave C” in the full marathon for the COMBINED skaters.
- COMBINED skaters are not eligible for half marathon and full marathon awards and cash prizes. There will be separate awards for this category.
- Skaters will have their own bib color that will be worn for both events.
- There will be separate t-shirts given to those that participate.
- The last bus leaving for the full start will be at 8 AM. After that, you are responsible for your own transportation from the finish line back up to the full start.
- Cost of competing in the COMBINED category is $85 (prior to May 31). This will increase month by month prior to the event.
If you want to skate both events and be eligible for awards in each event, you must register separately. You can still ride the provided buses after you finish the half marathon. No special awards will be granted for these athletes since they are eligible for prizes as they are participating in two separate events.
RACE PACKETS & CHIPS
Race packets may be picked up from noon Friday, Sept. 14, until 10 p.m. at Pioneer Hall in the DECC and Saturday at the bus loading area from 5:00 to 6:00 a.m. Chip timing equipment will be available Friday. “Chip volunteers” will be on hand to answer any questions.
PIZZA LUCE SPAGHETTI DINNER
The Pizza Luce all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner at the DECC is served Friday, Sept. 14th, from 5 to 9 p.m. The public is welcome. Adults – $12 in advance Children 5-12 – $6 in advance, under 5 – free.
RACE DAY FOOD BY SUPER ONE FOODS
A fabulous array of bananas, apples, oranges, cookies and yogurt and 20,000 bottles of water all generously donated by SUPER ONE FOODS will be available at the finish line. Please support SUPER ONE FOODS, PREMIUM WATERS and Franklin Foods. They’ve been amazing supporters of us!
PARKING
Friday and Saturday daily parking at the DECC is available for a $5 fee. The DECC also offers overnight parking for single vehicles ($10/night) & RV’s (electric hook-up ($35) or non-electric sites ($25)). More information is available at www.decc.org or by calling (218) 722-5573, ext.283. There is some free parking in the area however, it is limited. No parking will be available at the start area! All participants, other than those staying in Two Harbors, are strongly urged to take the shuttle buses to the start line.
BUSES
The Half Marathon buses begin loading at 5:00am from the DECC.
AWARDS
The top 3 ‘Half-Marathon’ finishers in each gender specific age class will be awarded an engraved medallion, in recognition of their impressive accomplishment at the Half-Marathon Award ceremony which will commence at 4 p.m. in Pioneer Hall at the DECC. The Full Marathon award ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. Awards must be picked up at this time. Awards will not be mailed.
