A section of the Munger Trail in Duluth will be under repair through the summer. This is incredible news for skaters, cyclists, and any trail enthusiast because upon completion, the newly paved path will be an excellent training ground for the NorthShore races on September 16!
Expect closures on the trail from Grand Avenue south to Becks Road during construction. Repaving rough gravel sections and replacing culverts will provide a smooth surface for skaters when the repairs are complete in August.
See the image below for the section under construction:
The Munger Trail from Grand Avenue to Becks Road will be closed to all users as heavy machinery and crews work on repairs. Visit http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_trails/willard_munger/index.html for updates.
In the meantime, try other off-road paths for skating near Duluth, such as the Lakewalk, the Munger Trail south of Becks Road, Scenic Highway 61 (NSIM race course), or Gitchi-Gami State Trail from Two Harbors to Grand Marais, MN.
