Brooke Wright Is 17 years old and was diagnosed with a brain tumor on Feb 25, 2011. She underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor which was a great success. She will have frequent MRI’s to make sure that there is no reoccurrence of the tumor. But, due to the fluid and pressure on her brain, Brooke’s optic nerves were severely damaged, causing the loss of her sight.

In July, 2011, Brooke was approached by Powerslide and their US reps, World Champion Inline skaters Kyle Joustra and Jorge Botera, about the possibility of being sponsored to skate the ½ marathon. Brooke jumped at the chance and you will be seeing her on Sept 17th skating in fully decked Powerslide gear, donning a smile fitting her excitement.

The North Shore Inline Marathon is so proud to be hosting an event with such amazing skaters and sponsors! Come and talk to Brooke on Friday, Sept 16th, during the EXPO at the DECC. She will be visiting the Powerslide booth and anxious to speak encouragement to anyone who stops by! Powerslide has also volunteered to run a silent auction from their booth. Come see all goodies.

Brooke had planned to join the service after graduation, but that is no longer an option for her. The Army National Guard has graciously donated their time and equipment for the benefit carnival on Sept 10th at Gill’s Smoke and Cheese house. The benefit will be from 10-4pm Sept 10th, a fun family carnival for all ages. Please pass the word to your family and friends.
